Why do appliances use the Imperial system in Canada?

I like the fact we use the Metric system of measurement in Canada.  It is amusing to me that most of the modern world uses the Metric system except America.  I don't even know if I am suppose to capitalize the word Metric.

The other day while looking at renting a jackhammer I stumbled upon http://www.homedepot.ca/ .  I am guessing it is the Canadian branch of homedepot.com (US site).  Not a 100% sure, of anything, these days.  Too much rum and not enough gold.  I didn't find a jackhammer, I did find a lot of US measurements.  It was Imperial, Imperial, Imperial.  Everything is feet, inches and whatever else they use in the US.

Canada use cubic feet?

SCREW the METRIC

I am like hold on a second.  I am Canadian.  I like being Canadian.  I am proud of the fact we use the Metric system.  Like a good little digital nerd I took to twitter, because it is the easiest way to say hello to companies.

say hello to my little friend twitter

I will never buy a product that does not show me the metric measurements on a matter of principle.  I understand fully that this means I could end up living in an empty lot without even a box to sleep in because that likely uses US measurements.

I am Canadian and not American.

When I choose to spend my money I want to spend it at companies that take the time to understand the subtle differences between the two nations. If it is the norm for contractors and everybody under the sun to to use the Imperial system then put both.  It isn't rocket science, likely just a script or two.

this is just one of the little things that drives me crazy online, all of which I, the wild eye willy shall share with you.  insanity like misery likes company.

Update:  After doing some checking it seems that using US measurements is the norm.  I still hate it and thus if you see a guy, alone in a lot, you will know it is me.

BTW I know the reason they use the Imperial system.  Americans weren't able to learn the Metric.
